Police in Pakistan's Punjab province have arrested three suspects in the rape and murder of an 18-year-old college student, a day after she died from injuries sustained in the crime.
The suspects were detained on Wednesday, after CCTV footage allegedly showed them dropping the victim at a hospital before fleeing.

Police arrested three suspects along with prime suspect in the rape and murder of an 18-year-old college student from Jhang district. The suspects were identified after CCTV footage allegedly showed him leaving the victim at a Lahore hospital. Authorities are continuing efforts to identify and arrest any others involved in the case.
The victim left her home in Sultan Colony on June 4 to collect her university examination roll number slip and never returned. Her family filed a missing persons report after she failed to come home. The following day, they received a call informing them she had been admitted to a private hospital in critical condition.

Hospital staff later transferred her to the District Headquarters Hospital, where she remained under treatment before dying on Tuesday. Her father alleged she had been abducted and sexually assaulted before being left at the hospital. He filed an abduction case at the Satellite Police Station and appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to ensure all those responsible face justice.
What is the current status of the Pakistan student rape investigation?
Police said multiple raids were underway and investigators were pursuing several leads. Authorities cautioned that the precise cause of death and full circumstances would only be confirmed after a postmortem examination. Efforts were also continuing to determine whether any additional suspects were involved.
The case has drawn widespread public attention in Pakistan, where violence against women regularly prompts calls for stronger law enforcement accountability.
