Police in Chhattisgarh detained a second suspect on Saturday in connection with the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan during a burglary at his Mumbai residence.

Khan, 54, sustained six stab wounds to his spine, neck, and hands in the early Thursday attack. Following surgery, doctors reported that the actor is out of danger.

The arrest was made after Mumbai Police alerted authorities that the suspect was traveling on the Jnaneswari Express train, Sanjeev Sinha of the Railway Protection Force told ANI news agency.

“Mumbai Police officials were contacted via video call, and the suspect’s identity was confirmed. He has been detained,” Sinha added.

Mumbai Police had previously detained a key suspect on Friday as part of the ongoing investigation.

The attack on Khan, a celebrated Bollywood actor known for his box-office success, has sparked outrage among fans and residents, with many demanding improved security measures in India’s financial capital.
