The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has announced the launch of the Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority (ADRA) to strengthen and regulate the emirate’s business sector. Established following a resolution by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, ADRA will oversee the registration of businesses in the emirate and its non-financial economic free zones, while coordinating with relevant entities to streamline licensing procedures.

ADRA is set to ensure full compliance with laws and regulations across Abu Dhabi’s mainland and non-financial economic free zones. This includes adherence to anti-money laundering (AML) standards, combating the financing of suspicious activities, and addressing illicit organizations. To support these efforts, the authority will develop a unified database that consolidates data on businesses across the emirate, enabling efficient management of the commercial registry and regulatory processes.

Leveraging advanced digital solutions, ADRA aims to facilitate business establishment and growth, encouraging investment and fostering a robust ecosystem for businesses. It will also introduce new types of licenses, creating opportunities to attract talent, investors, and entrepreneurs, and enabling them to capitalize on Abu Dhabi’s diverse and resilient economy.

Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADDED, described the establishment of ADRA as a milestone in Abu Dhabi’s economic journey. He emphasized that ADRA will accelerate the emirate’s economic growth and diversification by offering streamlined procedures, expert guidance, and access to a thriving business environment. Al Zaabi noted that ADRA reflects Abu Dhabi’s vision to strengthen its position as a leading global destination for talent, investment, and business, empowering enterprises to expand locally and internationally while accessing new markets.

ADRA is also set to play a pivotal role in attracting new investments across key sectors, ensuring compliance with international standards, and enhancing transparency. This commitment will provide accurate data to policymakers, researchers, and businesses, supporting informed decision-making and contributing to the realization of Abu Dhabi’s economic vision.

By enhancing regulatory frameworks and fostering transparency, ADRA further strengthens Abu Dhabi’s "Falcon Economy," cementing its reputation as a preferred destination for talent, investors, and businesses worldwide.
