With over 240 million citizens, Pakistan is the world's fifth most populous country. Its population growth rate places it among the highest in the world. Yet despite different governments' slogans about economic development, prosperity and quality education and healthcare, the country's social sector paints a dismal picture.

Nukta collected data from different government documents to highlight facilities in three specific sectors — education, healthcare and policing.

Notes about the data:

  • Information has been taken from the results of Pakistan's 7th Population and Housing Census, Pakistan Economic Survey 2023-24 and Pakistan Social Indicators 2021.
  • The age range for schoolchildren is from 5 to 14.
  • The age range for university students is from 20 to 29.
  • The data about educational institutions is from the Pakistan Social and Living Standards 2019-20 because no surveys were conducted in 2022 and 2023 amid preparations for the census.
