Two more Pakistani companies added to MSCI FM Standard Index

Two more Pakistani companies have been added in MSCI FM Standard Index, which is expected to increase the weight weight in the Standard Index to be around 5.89%.

Effective after the market close on February 28, 2025, MSCI has announced updates to its global indices constituents. The changes affect both the MSCI FM Standard Index and the MSCI Small Cap Index.

Abbott Laboratories (Pakistan) Ltd (ABOT) and The Searle Company Ltd (SEARL) have been added to the MSCI FM Standard Pakistan Index, while no deletions were observed in the MSCI FM index. Following this review, the MSCI Standard Index will include 23 constituents.


In the MSCI Small Cap Index, BF Biosciences Ltd (BFBIO), Biafo Industries Ltd (BIFO), and Power Cement Ltd (POWER) have been added, while Air Link Communication Ltd (AIRLINK), Askari Bank Ltd (AKBL), and Attock Refinery Ltd (ATRL) have been deleted.

Additionally, The Searle Company Ltd (SEARL) has been upgraded from the MSCI Small Cap Index to the MSCI FM.

The MSCI Small Cap Index now includes a total of 393 constituents, 66 of which are from Pakistan, representing approximately 17% of the total, with a weight of 11.2% in the Small Cap Index, according to an analyst at Arif Habib Limited.

It may be mentioned here, Pakistan's market has outperformed the MSCI FM Index by 39.2% in FY25TD.
