Cotton arrivals in Pakistan continue downward trend, declining 33%

Pakistan's cotton arrivals have reached 5,452,250 bales as of December 31, a significant decline of 33% compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA).

The data shows that the total arrival of cotton bales in the last year stood at 8,171,082 bales, with 147,375 bales arriving in the same period last year. In contrast, this year's flow of cotton bales into the market stands at 84,916 bales, a decline of 42% compared to the same period last year.

Textile mills have been driving demand, consuming 4,817,019 bales of cotton. Exports and trade of cotton bales stood at 46,700, a decline of 84% compared to the same period last year.

The total stock of cotton bales in the country stands at 588,531, comprising 530,390 bales in the press and 58,141 bales in seed cotton form. This is slightly higher than the total stock of 564,829 bales in the same period last year.

Currently, 222 factories are in operation in the country, processing the cotton bales into various products.

While the total arrival of cotton bales has declined significantly compared to last year, textile mills continue to drive demand, albeit at a slower pace.
