Michelin food critics have crowned their new favorites.

This year’s Dubai darlings were announced at a glitzy ceremony held at One&Only One Za’abeel on July 4.

In 2024, the Guide showcases four 2 MICHELIN Star restaurants and 15 1 MICHELIN Star Restaurants. All three Green Star awardees from last year retained their rating and the list featured 18 Bib Gourmands.

While no restaurant was awarded 3 Michelin Stars, four standout stars were celebrated, and received Michelin Special Awards while 11 new restaurants were added to the Michelin selected list. That brings the total to a whopping 106 eateries.

The talk of town will certainly be Chef Jason Atherton’s bespoke fine-dining venture, Row on 45 bagging 2 MICHELIN Stars. An intimate experience with the venue only seating 22 guests for an innovative 17-course tasting menu, we had a feeling Atherton's Row was going to be featured in this year's guide.

The MICHELIN Guide’s beginnings might surprise you

The Guide was established in France back in 1900 by the Michelin tire company as a marketing tool. If people drove around hunting for culinary gems, it would boost tire sales. Their ratings system is reflective of this ethos: 1 MICHELIN Star (high-quality cooking, worth a stop), 2 MICHELIN Stars (excellent cooking, worth a detour) and 3 MICHELIN Stars (exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey).

Currently, France has the most Michelin-starred restaurants in the world. 625 to be exact.
