Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Friday commissioned the AI Emarat Corvette (P111), a state-of-the-art naval vessel built to the highest international military standards, Emirati media reported.
The official induction ceremony of the vessel into the UAE Navy took place on Friday and was attended by Minister of State for Defense Affairs Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, and Defense Ministry Undersecretary Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi, according to WAM.
Sheikh Hamdan stated that the launch of the advanced warship underscores the UAE Navy's commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities. He highlighted that the vessel’s induction significantly strengthens the Navy’s role in safeguarding the country’s coastline.
The crown prince praised the national teams involved in the design and development of the new warship. He emphasized that investing in cutting-edge military technologies bolsters the UAE's defense sector, enabling it to compete globally and enhancing the Armed Forces' ability to perform with optimal efficiency.
The new warship features innovative panoramic sensors and an advanced security intelligence unit designed for seamless data collection and processing. Its cutting-edge sensor systems include radars, electro-optical devices, an electronic warfare suite, and communication antennas, as well as specialized weather systems, contributing to its operational readiness and efficiency.
Sheikh Hamdan stressed the importance of continued efforts to foster innovation and develop national expertise across various defense sectors to ensure that the Armed Forces remain ready to respond decisively to any future challenges.
