The family of Craig and Lindsay Foreman, two British nationals detained in the Iranian city of Kerman, expressed concern on Saturday as they work with UK authorities to secure the pair’s safe return.

Iran’s official news agency reported Thursday that the two were held on security-related charges. Blurred photos showed them meeting with the British ambassador, though they were not identified at the time.

The family confirmed their identities in a statement released by the British Foreign Office.

"This unexpected turn of events has caused significant concern for our entire family,” they said. “We are deeply focused on ensuring their safety and well-being during this trying time.”

The family added that they are working closely with the British government and are determined to secure the Foremans’ return.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have arrested dozens of foreigners and dual nationals in recent years, often citing espionage or security charges.

Human rights groups and some Western countries have accused Iran of using such arrests to extract political concessions. Tehran denies detaining individuals for political reasons.
