Pakistan’s premier domestic T20 competition is set for another major chapter, with the Pakistan Super League confirming the dates for its 12th edition. HBL PSL 12 will run from 18 March to 2 May 2027, with all eight franchises returning for the tournament.
The dates were finalised after discussions involving the Pakistan Cricket Board and representatives of all eight franchises. The decision followed the PSL Governing Council meeting in London on 1 September 2026, where stakeholders assessed the tournament window and preparations for the next season.
What can fans expect from HBL PSL 12?
The 2027 edition will follow a historic season that significantly reshaped the league. HBL PSL 11 featured eight teams for the first time, while the player draft was replaced by a player auction, introducing a new approach to squad building.
The 2026 final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium also produced a record attendance of 32,461 spectators. Peshawar Zalmi eventually lifted the trophy after defeating first-time finalists Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets on 3 May, securing their first PSL title in nine years.
With the dates now locked in, attention will shift towards the major events that will determine the squads for the upcoming campaign.
Direct signings, player retentions, the trade window and the auction will all take place ahead of the tournament, giving fans several major milestones to follow before the action begins.
What does the PCB expect from the next season?
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi believes the previous campaign demonstrated the league’s growing appeal and expects the next edition to go even further.
“HBL PSL 11 showed the world what this league is capable of – thrilling moments that had the whole nation transfixed, record crowds, record broadcasts. HBL PSL 12 will raise the bar further.
“We are committed to delivering another outstanding season and look forward to seeing all eight franchises compete once again for the title.”
What does the PSL leadership have planned?
HBL PSL CEO Salman Naseer said the league intends to build on the momentum created by the previous season.
“Last season changed what people expect from this league and we intend to meet every one of those expectations in 2027. Today’s announcement is only the first step, Direct signings, retentions, the trade window and the auction will each bring their own excitement in the months ahead.
“Eight teams, eight squads hungry to go one better and millions of fans across Pakistan and the world already counting down the days. Naye Daur ka Aghaaz ho chuka hai. #NewEra”
Further information regarding the tournament schedule, venues, auction and ticket sales will be released at a later stage, with the countdown to HBL PSL 12 now officially underway.
