Circle of Champions brings you an exclusive chat with Pakistan’s spinner Iqbal Qasim, hosted by Nukta’s Sports Editor Khalid Hussain.
Qasim debuted in 1976 against Australia, went on to play 50 Tests, and took 171 wickets at an average of 28.11.
His legendary 9–121 in the 1987 Bengaluru Test — including Sunil Gavaskar’s dismissal on 96—helped seal Pakistan’s first Test series win on Indian soil.
He also reflects on his time as Chief Selector (2009–10 and 2012), and offers a sharp critique of Pakistan’s decline — even with talent, sponsorship, and funding.
