India announced seven days of mourning following the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, 92. Singh, credited with liberalizing India's economy and lifting millions from poverty, passed away Thursday in New Delhi.

The first Sikh PM served two terms from 2004 to 2014, steering India through unprecedented economic growth. Born in 1932 in Punjab (now Pakistan), Singh was a scholar-turned-leader.

India will hold a state funeral, with flags at half-mast until January 1. Singh's contributions cemented his legacy as a key architect of modern India's economic and strategic framework.
