Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar hosted Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, where the two leaders co-chaired the third session of the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) and pledged to deepen bilateral relations.

What key agreements and economic priorities were discussed at the Joint Ministerial Commission?

During delegation-level discussions, the two foreign ministers reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations, identifying key growth areas in commercial trade, economic investment, defense cooperation, manpower export, and cultural exchanges.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of high-level exchanges, reaffirming their intent to establish structured follow-up mechanisms to streamline commercial partnerships, expand job opportunities for Pakistani workers in Bahrain, and facilitate foreign direct investment between Islamabad and Manama.

Foreign Minister Al Zayani’s two-day visit builds upon extensive preparatory meetings held by Pakistani ministries earlier in October and follows bilateral talks held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The JMC serves as the cornerstone institutional mechanism for advancing economic cooperation, trade facilitation, and inter-governmental coordination between the two nations.

How are Pakistan and Bahrain navigating regional Middle East developments?

The diplomatic summit occurs against a backdrop of regional volatility linked to the ongoing US-Iran conflict and escalating maritime security concerns across Persian Gulf trade corridors.

Minister Dar and Minister Al Zayani exchanged perspectives on international security challenges, underscoring that sustained dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international legal norms constitute the only viable path toward resolving regional disputes and ensuring economic stability.

The two foreign ministers also reaffirmed their shared commitment to close coordination within multilateral forums, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations. The delegation talks concluded with agreements to strengthen security cooperation, labor exchange frameworks, and financial coordination.
