Pakistan government increases fuel prices for the fortnight

Pakistan government has increased the fuel prices for the fortnight starting November 16 due to increasing international oil prices.

According to an official announcement, the prices are worked out “based on price trend in the international market during the last two weeks.”

High speed Diesel (HSD) price recorded an increase of PKR 3.29 to PKR 258.43 per liter, while Motor Spirt (petrol) price is increased by PKR 3.72 to PKR 252.10 per liter.

However, the prices of kerosene oil is reduced by PKR 0.62 to PKR 164.98 per liter, and light diesel oil prices are reduced by PKR 0.48 to PKR 141.73 per liter.

From November 16 to November 30, the government kept the fuel prices unchanged for HSD at PKR PKR 255.14 per liter, while Motor Spirit (Petrol) are unchanged at PKR 248.38 per liter.

It may be mentioned here, the government has set a tax collection target of PKR 1,241 billion for the year 2024-25. In the first quarter ending September 2024, it collected nearly PKR 262 billion, up from PKR 222 billion in the same period the previous year.
