Pakistan makes seven changes to Test squad ahead of third England Test

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made significant changes to the national Test squad following the completion of the second Test against England at Lord’s.

Which players have been released from Pakistan’s Test squad?

Seven players have been released from the squad, including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Muhammad Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.

The changes come with Pakistan trailing 2-0 in the three-match series and preparing for the final Test in Birmingham.

Who has been added to the squad?

The PCB has named seven replacements, with five players yet to make their Test debuts and two returning to the format.

Among the additions are Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal, who have represented Pakistan in eight and two Tests respectively.

Left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Arafat Minhas has also earned a call-up after featuring for Pakistan in three ODIs and four T20Is.

The remaining additions are left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Imran Jnr, wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig, and right-arm pace-bowling all-rounders Imran Randhawa and Razaullah.

Saad Baig's inclusion comes after an impressive domestic campaign in which he was named Player of the Tournament in the 2025-26 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

What other changes have been made?

Pakistan have also reshuffled their backroom staff ahead of the Birmingham Test.

Head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul have been released, with Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke set to take their places.

The revised squad for the Birmingham Test comprises Babar Azam, Abdullah Fazal, Abdullah Shafique, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Imran, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Razaullah, Saad Baig, Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shan Masood and Ubaid Shah.

The new-look squad will join the Pakistan camp ahead of the third and final Test against England in Birmingham.
