The Pakistan Navy demonstrated its operational readiness in a large-scale exercise in the North Arabian Sea on Saturday, highlighting its capabilities in conventional and unmanned warfare amid evolving maritime threats.
As part of the drills, the Navy successfully tested the LY-80(N) Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) from a Vertical Launching System, striking and neutralizing an aerial target at extended range. The exercise validated the long-range accuracy and reliability of Pakistan’s modern air defense systems.
The drills also featured precision strikes on surface targets using Loitering Munition (LM), which successfully engaged designated targets, showcasing the Navy’s enhanced offensive capabilities in contemporary maritime combat.
In a technological milestone, the Navy conducted successful open-sea trials of an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV). The trials confirmed the platform’s high-speed performance, maneuverability, operational resilience, and stealth, positioning the USV as a versatile asset for future operations.
The exercise, observed by the Commander Pakistan Fleet, underscored the Navy’s growing ability to integrate advanced weapon systems and autonomous platforms into coordinated maritime operations.
Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, lauded the Navy personnel for their professionalism and operational competence, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its maritime borders and national interests under all conditions.
