Pakistan received a whopping $3.4 billion in remittances in June, up 8% from the same month last year, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

Despite a modest increase, this monthly haul helped push the full-year total for FY25 to an all-time high of $38.3 billion. It was 27% higher than last year, and more than $7.5 billion above Pakistan’s total goods exports, which stood at roughly $30.7 billion for the same period despite receiving massive public and private sector investment.

A major chunk of these remittances, about $17.1 billion, came from Saudi Arabia ($9.3 billion) and the UAE ($7.8 billion), underscoring the continued strength of inflows from the Gulf region.

While remittances from Saudi Arabia slipped 10% compared to May, they were still 2% higher than in June last year. In contrast, inflows from the UAE rose 10% from a year ago but dipped 5% from the previous month.

The strong FY25 numbers were also supported by inflows from the U.K. ($538 million in June), E.U. countries ($442 million), and the U.S. ($281 million), reflecting the global Pakistani diaspora's growing contribution to the national economy.
