Two teenage step-sisters were arrested for killing their father by setting him on fire in revenge for sexual abuse, police said Wednesday.
The father was attacked in Gujranwala, Punjab province, on January 1 and died Tuesday in a hospital.
"The girls said that they decided amongst themselves to find a 'permanent solution,'" said Rizwan Tariq, a senior police official.
The sisters took petrol from a motorcycle and set their father ablaze while he slept, he added.
The teenagers said their father had been sexually assaulting the older girl for a year and had twice attempted to assault the younger girl. Their mothers — both married to the man — knew about the abuse but were unaware of the revenge plot.
The Associated Press is not naming the man to protect the identities of the girls, one of whom is from a previous marriage.
One wife has been arrested while police question the second.
"We expect to present them before the court in a few days, as soon as we finish the investigation," Tariq said.
