US President-elect Donald Trump met with the UK's Prince William Saturday on the sidelines of the reopening of Notre Dame in Paris, praising the heir to the British throne as a "good man" doing a "fantastic job."

The Prince of Wales, the elder son of King Charles III, attended the ceremony representing the UK. The event marked the cathedral's restoration following a 2019 fire. Around 40 heads of state and government gathered in the French capital for the occasion.

Trump and William last met in 2019 during a state visit to the UK. After the ceremony, Trump told reporters at the UK ambassador’s residence in Paris, “A good man, this one! He’s doing a fantastic job,” as William laughed.

Prince William’s previous official visit to Paris was in 2017, when he and his wife, Princess Catherine, attended in the wake of the Brexit result. This time, Kate was not present, as she has been gradually resuming public duties following her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

King Charles III is currently undergoing cancer treatment. William also joined his father and other heads of state in Normandy earlier this year for D-Day commemorations, attended by Jill Biden, wife of US President Joe Biden.
