Former U.S. President Donald Trump shared a video on Friday purportedly showing dozens of Houthi fighters being killed in a U.S. airstrike in Yemen, adding the caption “Oops” in a post on his Truth Social platform.
The black-and-white video, which resembles drone or loitering aircraft footage, shows a group of figures gathered along a road before a bright explosion occurs at the center of the group.
A wide shot reveals smoke rising from the strike zone, followed by a close-up of the impact crater—though no bodies are visible.
“These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack,” Trump wrote. “Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis. They will never sink our ships again!”
While the video’s authenticity and release source remain unverified, Trump’s post quickly drew criticism for its flippant tone regarding potential mass casualties.
U.S. forces have recently escalated operations in Yemen following Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping, which the group claims are in retaliation for Israel’s war in Gaza.
The Houthi-run media has reported dozens of deaths this week from strikes blamed on the U.S. Meanwhile, Washington has announced the deployment of a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, signaling a continued military buildup in the region.
