The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned an attack on the residence of its Head of Mission in Khartoum, allegedly carried out by a Sudanese army aircraft.
The attack caused significant damage to the diplomatic building.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Monday, the UAE called on the Sudanese army to take full responsibility for what it termed a “cowardly act.” The ministry underscored the importance of respecting the inviolability of diplomatic premises, noting that such actions constitute a blatant violation of international laws.
The UAE plans to submit a formal letter to the League of Arab States, the African Union, and the United Nations to address the incident. The ministry highlighted the necessity of protecting diplomatic buildings and residences of embassy staff in accordance with established treaties and customs governing diplomatic relations.
Furthermore, the MoFA expressed its unequivocal rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism that threaten security and stability, reaffirming its commitment to international law.
