The UAE strongly condemned a statement by Iran's foreign ministry on Wednesday, rejecting any threats to its sovereignty, national security or independent decision-making.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said neither Iran nor any other party had the right to use the UAE's international defense partnerships as a pretext for interference or threats. The ministry described any such threats as "unacceptable behavior."

What did the UAE say in response to Iran's threats on its sovereignty?

The UAE said its international defense partnerships are "a matter of pure sovereignty" and that no outside party has the right to use them as grounds for threats.

The ministry condemned any Iranian threats to the UAE's security, civilian facilities or people as contradicting the principles of good neighborliness, international law and the UN Charter. The UAE also reaffirmed its right to defend itself against hostile actions from Iran.

What behavior did the UAE call unacceptable?

The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Iranian threats targeting the state's security, civilian facilities or people constituted unacceptable behavior. The ministry added that such conduct contradicted the rules of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The UAE also rejected what it described as pressure, accusations and biased rhetoric, saying these tactics would not deter it from asserting its sovereign rights.

The UAE reiterated its categorical rejection of any claims that infringe upon its sovereignty or independence of decision-making.

The ministry's statement made clear that the UAE's defense ties with international partners fall entirely within its own sovereign prerogative. Tehran, the UAE said, had no standing to treat those partnerships as a justification for threats or interference.
