Fatima Khasif of the UAE Karate National Team has earned a silver medal in the women’s kumite -68 kg competition at the ongoing Asian Championships in Hangzhou, China.
Khasif showcased her skills with a commanding start, defeating Saudi Arabia's Lama Kifi with a decisive 6-0 score in her opening match. She continued her impressive performance by outpacing a competitor from Japan with a 10-3 victory.
In the semifinals, Khasif faced Jordan's Jud al-Duraws and emerged victorious by decision, advancing her to the final match. In a closely contested battle, she narrowly lost to the champion from Hong Kong, finishing with a score of 2-3.
This silver medal marks Khasif's second major achievement in her weight category, following her initial silver at the Under-21 Asian Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 2021. Ranked 91st in the world, Khasif continues to represent the UAE on the international stage with remarkable determination and skill.
