UAE strongly condemns Israeli seizure of UNRWA headquarters
Israeli authorities announced they would build a settlement in place of relief agency’s premises in occupied East Jerusalem
The UAE has condemned Israel's decision to confiscate the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem, calling it a violation of the historical and legal status of the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy expressed the UAE's strong opposition to the move, which includes suspending UNRWA's operations and replacing its facility with a settlement, according to WAM. She criticised the targeting of humanitarian facilities and the potential risks to the safety of aid workers in the region.
Al Hashimy stressed the need to support all regional and international efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East, as well as end illegal practices that undermine the two-state solution, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Al Hashimy also underscored that the UAE is steadfast in its commitment to reinforcing peace and justice, safeguarding the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people.
