The UAE has introduced a pioneering advancement in emergency response technology with the unveiling of Suhail -- the world’s first jet-powered, unmanned firefighting aircraft, WAM reported.
The announcement was made as part of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Japan.
Developed by the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, Suhail marks a significant leap forward in firefighting capabilities. Designed to tackle blazes in areas that are difficult or dangerous for human responders to access, the drone is equipped with advanced smart systems to boost both response time and operational effectiveness.
Suhail features cutting-edge technologies including LiDAR-based 3D scanning and computer vision, enabling it to accurately map environments, detect hazards, and navigate obstacles in real time.
Its jet propulsion system allows for vertical takeoff and landing, agile maneuvering, and sustained performance in high-risk conditions.
The report added that the unveiling highlights the UAE’s ongoing efforts to integrate advanced technologies into civil defence operations and improve response mechanisms in emergency situations.
