Abu Dhabi holiday home license number now required on online listings

Abu Dhabi holiday home listings must now display a valid license number from the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi), Gulf News reported. Holiday homes cannot be advertised online without one. The amended rules were announced during Arabian Travel Market 2026. They give guests a direct way to check a property's status before booking.

The amendments come after a sharp expansion of the market. Abu Dhabi ended 2025 with 4,771 eligible holiday home units, up 77% from a year earlier. More than 2,000 properties were added during the year.

Guest numbers also rose 77% to slightly more than 335,000. International guests reached 252,500, up 68%, while domestic guests rose 114% to 82,900. International travelers made up roughly three-quarters of all guests.

Average daily revenue rose 28% to Dh1,887.

Hamad Mohammed Sudain, executive director of support services at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the rules strengthen governance and improve transparency. He said they encourage responsible participation while protecting quality and guest experience. He added that clarity for operators and confidence for visitors and investors will support sustainable growth.

DCT Abu Dhabi introduced its first holiday home regulations in 2020. It has since updated parts of the framework, including requirements linked to the tourism fee and data submitted through the licensing system.
