An enchanting night of poetry
No venue could have hosted the celebration of Zehra Nigah's legacy better than Karachi's Mohatta Palace
The fifth edition of the Qaumi Mushaira featured poets from all over the country
Literary giants Zehra Nigah and Iftikhar Arif concluded the night with their poems
Karachi took on an air of creative energy over the weekend as poets from across the country—renowned voices and rising talents alike—gathered to honor one of their most celebrated literary figures. The annual Corporate Pakistan Group (CPG) Qaumi Mushaira has been held annually since 2017, except for interruptions due to COVID-19.
In the last couple of years, the Qaumi Mushaira has evolved into one of Karachi’s many literary identities, making this year's event grander than the previous. The fifth edition, organized by a management committee of entrepreneurs—Adnan Rizvi, Azfar Ahsan, and Mubashir Imam—along with the Chishti Family and corporate sponsors Cnergyico and Unity Foods Limited, featured poets from all over the country.
The event celebrated the legacy of famous poet Zehra Nigah Nukta
The majestic Mohatta Palace hosted these celebrities, led by the legendary Zehra Nigah and the unmatchable Iftikhar Arif, who were there to celebrate the former's legacy. The literary giants concluded the event traditionally, applauding poets, both young and old, who entertained the audience throughout the night.
From Khursheed Rizvi of Lahore to Karachi’s own Abbas Tabish and veteran poet Dr. Pirzada Qasim, each brought their unique brilliance to the stage. The audience's constant appreciation kept their morale high, and they kept raising the bar.

Also participating in the event were poets Mir Ahmed Navaid, Nasira Zuberi, Khalid Moin, Shahzad Nayyar, Shahzad Zaki, and Umair Najmi, whose wordplay exceeded expectations.
The flawless host, Faisal Sabzwari, began by honoring absent friends and, for the first time, announced next year’s event dates. He knew precisely when to repeat the poet's best-delivered verse; even his well-timed interruptions added to the evening’s charm.
Once again, the CPG Qaumi Mushaira delivered as one of the country’s premier literary events. Talking to Nukta, Faisal Sabzwari explained how a "WhatsApp group idea" grew into a must-attend event for poetry enthusiasts nationwide.

Veteran poet Dr. Pirzada Qasim praised the organizers for reviving Urdu for younger generations, while legendary poet Iftikhar Arif hailed their celebration of Zehra Nigah’s legacy.
The event drew Karachi’s elite—businessmen, politicians, actors, and other luminaries. Its success has made the organizers rethink their strategy, and they might expand it to other cities. Whether any venue can match Mohatta Palace’s elegance remains to be seen.
