An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan on Monday ordered authorities to produce former prime minister Imran Khan before it in the Judicial Complex attack case.
The case stems from 2023 clashes between his supporters and police at an Islamabad court complex.
What did the court order in the Imran Khan Judicial Complex case?
Judge Tahir Abbas Supra directed authorities to produce Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, either in person or via video link at the next hearing. The court also declared four former federal ministers proclaimed offenders and issued non-bailable arrest warrants for two others.
The proclaimed offenders are Farrukh Habib, Hammad Azhar, Murad Saeed and Shibli Faraz, and the court ordered authorities to provide details of properties owned by the accused. Non-bailable arrest warrants were issued for former Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Wasiq Qayyum and PTI lawmaker Hassan Khan Niazi. The hearing was adjourned until Nov. 5.
What is the Imran Khan Judicial Complex case about?
The case was registered at Islamabad's Ramna police station following clashes at the Judicial Complex in March 2023, when Khan appeared there in connection with the Toshakhana case involving state gifts.
According to the case, PTI leaders are accused of inciting party supporters to vandalize the complex and engage in stone-pelting during the confrontation with police.
