Starting late January 2025, Dubai motorists will be facing a new toll rates system across the city's Salik gates, as The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced adjustments to its road pricing system for the first time.
According to the RTA announcement, peak hours have been designated as 6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm, while off-peak hours will be 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 1am. Toll gates will remain free from 1am to 6am.
Drivers in Dubai will then be charged Dh6 ($1.60) to pass through toll gates during rush hours, up from the current Dh4 ($1.10). The off-peak toll will remain at Dh4.
While a flat Dh4 fee will apply throughout the day on Sundays, excluding public holidays, special occasions, or major events.
The announcement follows the opening of two new Salik toll gates in Dubai and is part of a broader strategy to improve traffic flow and manage congestion.
The RTA emphasized that the "variable" pricing model is designed to encourage smoother traffic movement across the city.
