Emirates launches expanded travel insurance covering conflict-related risks and emergency evacuation

Emirates has launched what it describes as an industry-first Comprehensive Travel Cover, expanding its insurance offering to include conflict-related medical expenses, emergency evacuation, and enhanced disruption support.

The new package covers passengers from the moment of booking through to the completion of their journey, according to Khaleej Times.

What does Emirates' new Comprehensive Travel Cover include?

The Comprehensive Travel Cover provides trip cancellation protection, unlimited medical expense cover, worldwide emergency evacuation, and compensation for baggage delay or loss.

A newly added conflict cover reimburses medical expenses up to $25,000 and allows customers to extend their trip by up to 30 days. The cover applies regardless of government-issued travel advisories.

How does Emirates handle rebooking under the new policy?

Customers affected by cancellations or major schedule disruptions, including those involving conflict-related events, will be rebooked to their final destination at no additional cost. Emirates said alternative arrangements may involve other airlines if needed.

The rebooking commitment forms part of the airline's broader customer service framework under its "fly better" promise.

What hotel and disruption support does Emirates provide?

Separately from the insurance component, Emirates will provide airline-managed hotel accommodation during major disruptions, including airspace closures.

The airline said this sits alongside existing flexibility measures, including free date changes for certain bookings made from April 2 and a 24-hour "hold my fare" option. Together, these form a layered disruption response for affected passengers.

How can passengers purchase the Emirates Comprehensive Travel Cover?

The new cover is available at a competitive premium and can be purchased during booking on the Emirates website or added later through the "Manage Booking" platform.

Emirates President Sir Tim Clark said the product was developed in response to customer demand for broader protection amid evolving global travel risks.
