Sources close to Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman on Wednesday rubbished reports relating to the left-handed batsman’s intent to retire from ODI cricket.

“These are fake news,” a source close to the player told Nukta.

“Fakhar is undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy at Lahore. The injury is not a serious one and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) doctors have allowed him to start batting practice after two weeks,” the source said.

A source in the PCB also said that it’s ‘fake news’.

Fakhar has been a key player of Pakistan’s batting line-up in white-ball cricket over the years.

In the Champions Trophy game against New Zealand in Karachi he developed muscular pain and left the field. He was then not sent with the team to Dubai for the clash with India and was replaced immediately by Imam-ul-Haq who opened the innings with Babar Azam in the big cash which Pakistan lost.

Fakhar recently missed the three away series against Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa due to various reasons, especially his fitness issues.

However, he made a fine comeback when he scored odd 80 in the first game of the Tri-Nation Series against New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium.
