Suicide attack on Pakistan police checkpoint kills two, injures eight in Tank

A suicide bomber killed at least two police officers and injured eight others in an overnight attack on a joint military and police checkpoint in Pakistan's northwestern Tank district, police said Friday.

Rescue operations were ongoing, and officials warned the death toll could rise. The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Under the order, movement of pedestrians, motorcycles, passenger vehicles and cargo traffic has been banned daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice, and Ranwal Bazaar has also been ordered to remain closed during those hours.
