In a move set to redefine travel within the UAE, Etihad Rail today announced a new high-speed train project connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai with a travel time of just 30 mins. The announcement, made at an official ceremony at Al Faya Depot, detailed plans for a rail link that will drastically reduce travel time between the two emirates.

The project, incorporating cutting-edge technologies, aims to solidify the UAE's position as a global leader in transportation. It is expected to significantly impact the nation's infrastructure, contributing to sustainable economic growth while supporting the goals of the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan further noted the project’s profound national importance, underscoring its role in strengthening infrastructure and facilitating the development of other key sectors. His Highness emphasised that the project places the UAE at the forefront of innovation in railway transportation, transforming the daily commute between Abu Dhabi and Dubai to enhance the lives of citizens, residents and tourists while boosting the national economy’s global competitiveness by introducing a state-of-the-art transport system that features the latest infrastructure advancements.

With trains reaching speeds of up to 350 km/h, the new rail link will not only reduce travel time but also provide a seamless connection between key destinations and tourist attractions. This enhanced connectivity is expected to stimulate tourism, promote economic growth, and strengthen the UAE's position as a global hub for business and leisure.

Leveraging the latest advancements in railway technology, the high-speed train is projected to contribute AED 145 billion to the UAE's GDP over the next 50 years.

Beyond the economic benefits, the project aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals by offering a fast, efficient, and sustainable mode of transportation. This initiative aligns with the UAE's vision for a future driven by innovation and sustainable development.

It will be a major leap forward in its transportation infrastructure with the unveiling of its first passenger train fleet and the announcement of four strategically located stations.

The passenger train, designed to complement the recently announced high-speed rail project, will connect urban and regional routes across the UAE. Initial stations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah will serve as key hubs, integrating with metro and bus lines to create a comprehensive and interconnected transport network.

These stations, inspired by Emirati heritage, will feature modern amenities such as business-class lounges, retail outlets, and family-friendly spaces. Their innovative designs reflect the UAE's commitment to excellence and sustainability, while fostering community development and supporting the nation's vision for the future.
