The death toll appeared to be the worst in Europe from flooding since 2021 when at least 185 people died in Germany
At least 72 people lost their lives in flash floods across Valencia, eastern Spain, after intense rains on Tuesday submerged roads and towns, local authorities reported Wednesday.
In Utiel, rescuers maneuvered dinghies through the floodwaters to save stranded residents in the dark, as emergency teams continued working to reach the hardest-hit areas.
