India began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a nine-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on Wednesday. UAE were dismissed for 57 in 13.1 overs, their lowest total against India in T20 internationals, before India chased the target in only 4.3 overs.

Put in to bat, UAE made a cautious start through opener Alishan Sharafu, who scored 22 off 17 balls with three boundaries and a six.

Captain Muhammad Waseem added 19 but struggled for fluency as the Indian spinners tightened control. Apart from these two, no other batter reached double figures as wickets fell regularly.

Kuldeep Yadav led India’s attack with 4 for 7, while Shivam Dube took 3 for 4.

Jasprit Bumrah struck the first blow, and spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel chipped in with a wicket apiece. UAE’s innings ended inside 14 overs, with 52 dot balls recorded.

In reply, India’s openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill ensured a quick finish, sealing victory inside five overs. The result gave India their fastest chase in T20Is and a strong start to their title defense.
