Jazz becomes first operator to reach 1,000 5G sites in Pakistan

Jazz says it has become the first operator in Pakistan to reach 1,000 live 5G sites, marking what the company describes as the fastest 5G rollout in the country and the largest 5G network footprint nationwide.

The company said on August 27 that it aims to expand the network to 2,500 sites by the end of 2026.

How many cities does Jazz's 5G network now cover?

Jazz's 5G network now reaches 10 cities across Pakistan, up from an initial launch across close to 180 sites in eight cities.
The rollout has expanded coverage in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan and Faisalabad, while extending to Sialkot and Gujranwala.

Kazim Mujtaba, President of Jazz GSM, said reaching 1,000 5G sites at this pace reflected the company's determination to bring the benefits of 5G to more Pakistanis faster.

He said the focus as the network scales to 2,500 sites by year-end is on greater capacity, faster speeds and more reliable connectivity, while enabling new services and use cases as 5G adoption grows.

What technology is powering Jazz's 5G expansion?

Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer of JazzWorld, said building 5G at this scale required a network designed for diverse connectivity needs across Pakistan.

He said combining multi-band spectrum with advanced radio technologies and modernized infrastructure was helping deliver wider coverage and greater capacity.

Jazz's network is underpinned by spectrum secured in the 2026 auction, where the operator acquired 190 MHz of additional spectrum across four bands: 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz.

This took Jazz's total spectrum holdings to 284.4 MHz. The company said the additional spectrum is helping it build what it describes as Pakistan's most diverse 5G network.

How much has Jazz invested in its 5G rollout?

The rollout follows Jazz's USD 1 billion investment commitment, announced after the 2026 spectrum auction, to accelerate 5G deployment and strengthen network infrastructure nationwide.

The commitment takes Jazz's total investment in Pakistan to USD 12 billion to date, according to the company.
