JazzCash, one of Pakistan’s leading fintech platform, has announced its integration with Google Wallet, allowing customers to link their JazzCash debit cards for seamless and secure tap-to-pay transactions.

The move marks a significant step in advancing digital payments in Pakistan, enabling over 13 million monthly active users of the JazzCash app to use their smartphones as convenient payment tools for person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions, the company said in a statement.

With this integration, JazzCash users can add any of the three compatible debit cards — Mastercard Debit Card, Women’s Debit Card, and Virtual Debit Card — to Google Wallet. The Virtual Debit Card can be instantly set up within the JazzCash app, while physical cards can be requested through the app or USSD against a one-time issuance fee.

Aamir Aftab, Chief Product Officer at JazzCash, emphasized the importance of the collaboration: "As Pakistan’s leading fintech platform, we are committed to driving financial inclusion through innovation. By partnering with Google Wallet, we are fostering an open and interoperable ecosystem that empowers millions of Pakistanis with secure and seamless digital payment solutions. Such partnerships are crucial in making financial services more accessible and advancing a cashless economy."

The Google Wallet integration enhances JazzCash’s existing portfolio of payment services, which already includes QR payments, tap-to-pay solutions, online payments, and debit cards.

Adding a JazzCash debit card to Google Wallet is a simple process. Once linked, users can make transactions by unlocking their phone and holding it near a contactless payment terminal.

Google Wallet employs tokenization technology, which replaces sensitive card data with a dynamic, device-specific virtual card number, ensuring an additional layer of security. Even if intercepted, these tokens cannot be misused for fraudulent transactions. Moreover, users can safeguard their accounts through the ‘Find My Device’ feature, which allows them to lock their phones or erase personal information remotely in case of theft or loss.
