The Pakistani entertainment industry has lost yet another talent, veteran television actor Khalid Hafeez Khan, who passed away late Monday night in Islamabad. He was a beloved figure of Pakistan Television’s golden era of comedy and is remembered for his iconic role as Mr Shamim in the classic PTV comedy drama Guest House.
Khalid Hafeez Khan rose to fame in the 1990s with Guest House, a sitcom that remains one of PTV’s most loved productions decades after its broadcast. His portrayal of Mr Shamim — the guest house owner who repeatedly professed unwavering loyalty to his wife despite her constant suspicions — became a cultural touchstone of Pakistani comedy.
Celebrated for his natural acting and perfect comic timing, Khalid Hafeez Khan had the rare ability to connect with audiences of all ages. Beyond Guest House, he appeared in several television projects, including Silsilay and Nishan-e-Haider: Captain Mohammad Sarwar Shaheed.
