Lahore court sends two primary suspects on six-day remand in Azerbaijani woman gang rape case

A Lahore court granted a six-day physical remand of two primary suspects, Mohsin and Ali Zain, for their alleged involvement in the Lahore gang rape case of an Azerbaijani woman on September 29.

Police presented the men under heavy security before Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Saghir. Authorities seek further interrogation and forensic evidence to secure maximum legal penalties.

What happened to the Azerbaijani woman in Lahore?

A 20-year-old Azerbaijani businesswoman was allegedly lured from a café, drugged with a sedative-laced beverage, and gang-raped in a private apartment. The suspects later stole her personal belongings and cash. They ultimately pushed her out of a moving vehicle near the Ghazi Interchange before fleeing the scene.

Police officials arrested the two primary suspects while a search for the third is still ongoing. The two suspects presented in court today kept their faces completely covered with sheets during their court appearance to avoid media cameras and an outraged public.

Law enforcement personnel also successfully tracked down and recovered the vehicle used during the commission of the crime.

Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Saghir granted the state's request for a six-day physical remand. Investigators will use this interrogation period to extract vital forensic data from the suspects. The police also aim to establish a definitive timeline of how local facilitators assisted the primary attackers.

How did the alleged Lahore gang rape unfold?

According to the statement recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC, the survivor stated that she arrived in Pakistan to explore textile business opportunities. On the night of September 25, two local women named Nimra and Muskan lured her to a café in DHA. The victim was then introduced to three men who offered her a city tour.

The men drove the victim to a secluded apartment in a private housing society instead of a tour, she further stated. Her statement further revealed that Nimra took a cash payment from Mohsin before the two local women abandoned the victim. The male suspects then locked the victim in a room, forced her to consume alcohol, and sexually assaulted her.

What investigation is taking place?

The traumatized victim borrowed a phone from a passerby near the Ghazi Interchange to alert emergency services. Lahore police responded immediately, escorting her to a medical facility and registering a First Information Report at the Defence C police station. A comprehensive medical examination has officially verified the physical trauma and sexual assault.

DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza confirmed that the survivor recorded her detailed testimony under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Authorities have placed all wanted individuals on the national no-fly list to prevent them from leaving Pakistan.
