A Pakistani-American woman poisoned her three children with potassium cyanide-laced ice cream, then consumed the poison herself, in Lahore's Kahna area, police said Friday. Authorities also announced the arrest of two more suspects linked to the case.

Police say the woman fed potassium cyanide-laced ice cream to her three children before eating it herself on July 16. The family, who had recently moved from the United States, lived in a rented house in Valencia Town. Investigators say she had been mentally unwell.

DIG Investigations Lahore Syed Zeeshan Raza said the woman had repeatedly searched online for methods of ending her life before contacting an online chemical supplier. She paid PKR 138,540 through MoneyGram to obtain the potassium cyanide, according to Raza. Police say this payment trail helped investigators reconstruct her actions in the days before the deaths.
How was the poison delivered to her?
Police said the parcel containing the chemical was not sent directly to the woman's home. It was first delivered to a friend's residence, and the woman later collected it from that friend at a private pizza outlet. She then returned home and mixed the potassium cyanide into ice cream before feeding it to her children.
What happened to the woman's husband?
Raza said the woman also tried to give the poisoned ice cream to her husband, Nasir, but he did not eat it. Nasir later underwent a polygraph test as investigators examined his account of events. Police have not named him as a suspect in the poisonings.
Who else has been arrested in the case?
Police arrested two additional suspects: the owner of a chemical shop accused of selling such substances online, and a delivery rider who handled the parcel. Raza said investigators used CCTV footage and forensic expertise to trace and arrest both men. He added that police, working with prosecutors, would prepare a strong challan to ensure the accused face punishment.
