Moscow attacks Ukraine with drones and missiles
Reports indicate missile impacts in the area amidst the ongoing conflict
Russia launched a wave of drone and missile strikes across Ukraine on Tuesday, with Kyiv acknowledging successful hits in the east and near the capital.
While authorities did not specify the targets, Kyiv regional governor Ruslan Kravchenko said debris from a downed projectile damaged a private home and injured a woman.
Moscow claimed its forces had struck a military airfield and a munitions production facility in a "combined" operation using drones and precision weapons.
Ukraine's air force reported that Russia launched 21 missiles and 40 drones in the attack, seven of which were intercepted along with 16 unmanned aerial vehicles. Ballistic missile strikes were confirmed in the Sumy and Kyiv regions, according to the air force.
Russia has conducted near-daily nighttime aerial assaults on Ukraine since the invasion began in February 2022, often targeting both military and civilian infrastructure.
In response, Ukraine has intensified its own drone and missile strikes on Russian territory and continues to call on Western allies for advanced air defense systems.
Earlier Tuesday, a Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire and fuel spill at an oil depot in western Russia, according to a Russian regional governor.
