Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the global economy, with countries investing billions in AI models, data centres, chips, and digital infrastructure. But where does Pakistan stand in this race?

Pakistan has key advantages, including more than 600,000 IT professionals, 5,000 IT firms, 35,000 annual IT graduates, a strong freelancer community, and a growing fintech ecosystem. The country also ranks 16th in the Global Outsourcing Talent Index 2026.

Yet significant challenges remain. Only 19% of cellular towers are fiberized compared to the 40% global benchmark. Pakistan also ranks 81st in the Government AI Readiness Index 2025, while gaps in infrastructure, data protection, and local AI development continue to limit growth.

In this episode of On My Radar, Amir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz World, explains Pakistan's AI potential, the readiness gap, the importance of digital infrastructure, and what the country must do to compete in the global AI economy.
