A viral video showing a girl hitting sixes in a men's tape-ball cricket match has been doctored using artificial intelligence, according to a fact-check by iVerify Pakistan. Users have shared the clip, calling the batter "Mehak Pindi Wali," since August 18, 2026, drawing millions of views.
Is the Mehak Pindi Wali cricket video real?
No. iVerify Pakistan rated the claim false after running keyword and reverse image searches alongside a forensic analysis of the footage. The organization found no reports from credible Pakistani or international media about a girl gaining attention for her performance in a tape-ball match, and traced the clip to an altered original.
How did the video spread online?
Multiple cricket fan accounts, most with a history of posting cricket content, shared the video across Facebook, TikTok, X, Instagram and YouTube. A Facebook post captioned "Check the shot" received 75 million views, and a follow-up close-up angle from the same user drew 5.4 million more.

On TikTok, a post captioned "Huge six by Mehak Pindi Wali" reached 10.9 million views, while another calling the six "unbelievable" gained 262,000. An X post referencing the clip drew 190,000 views, and other accounts across Instagram, YouTube, X and TikTok added a further 405,000 views between them. Separate clips showing the same girl in different outfits and angles collectively received 5.7 million views on TikTok.

How did iVerify Pakistan trace the original video?
A reverse image search led iVerify Pakistan to a video posted by the TikTok account TapeBall Voice on August 2, 2026. That original clip showed the same second batter, wicketkeeper, pitch and lights seen in the viral footage, but featured a different batter, who was replaced by a girl in the versions that later circulated online.

What did AI-detection tools find?
iVerify Pakistan ran the video through multiple AI-detection tools. Several did not flag it, but Hive Moderation rated it 54.6% AI-generated, and NVIDIA gave it a synthetic score of 33.3%, above its 30% threshold, indicating the clip was likely synthetic. Based on these findings, iVerify Pakistan concluded the video is AI-generated and the claim is false.
