Pakistan’s top military commander has pledged that the country is fully prepared to counter any threats originating from across its western border.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, stressed that militant activities launched from Afghan soil against Pakistan would not be tolerated and that all necessary measures would be taken to neutralize such threats.
The comments were made during a visit on Wednesday to Wana in South Waziristan, a key district along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where the army chief reviewed the security situation and operational readiness of troops deployed in forward areas.
Upon arrival, he was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar and paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the Shuhada Monument, laying a floral wreath and offering Fateha in their honor.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir received detailed briefings on the overall security environment, ongoing intelligence-driven operations, and border management initiatives, including updates on Operation Ghazb lil Haq and recent developments along the western frontier.
Interacting with officers and troops, he commended their professionalism, vigilance, and morale amid ongoing skirmishes, highlighting their commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and regional stability. “The sacrifices of the Shuhada remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security and national resilience,” he said.
The army chief underscored that groups such as Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan using Afghan territory to carry out attacks against Pakistan were unacceptable. He reiterated that lasting peace could only be achieved if the Afghan Taliban renounced support for terrorism and extremist organizations.
Expressing satisfaction with the army’s operational preparedness, Field Marshal Munir conveyed full confidence in the combat readiness, coordination, and resilience of formations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
