Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said on Tuesday that Pakistan's federal budget for fiscal year 2026-27 is now expected to be presented in parliament on June 12.
In a post on X, the minister said formal summaries to convene budget sessions of the National Assembly and Senate had been forwarded to the presidency for approval.
The lower house is expected to meet at 5pm, while the Senate session is likely to be convened at 4pm on June 10.
When will Pakistan's federal budget 2026-27 be presented?
Pakistan's federal budget for FY2026-27 is now expected to be presented on June 12, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
Summaries have been sent to the presidency to convene sessions of both the National Assembly and Senate. The date remains subject to final approval and the resolution of outstanding procedural matters.
Why has Pakistan's budget presentation been delayed?
The proposed June 12 date comes after repeated revisions to the budget timeline. The presentation was initially set for June 5 before shifting to June 10, with further delays linked to pending procedural and policy clearances.
Officials say the postponements reflect ongoing discussions within the ruling coalition, along with unresolved matters tied to negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
The National Economic Council meeting, which plays a key role in finalizing budgetary targets, has also been postponed multiple times. IMF approval is still awaited on several proposals, including potential tax relief measures for salaried individuals. That uncertainty has added further pressure on the final budget timeline.
