Pakistan produced a dominant display to defeat arch-rivals India 3-0 in the men’s volleyball quarter-final at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, booking a place in the semi-finals for the first time in their history.

Pakistan controlled the contest from the outset and never allowed India to build sustained momentum. They took the opening set 25-19 before edging a closer second set 25-23.

The Pakistanis then completed the victory in commanding fashion, winning the third set 25-18 to seal a straight-sets triumph.

The victory marks a historic milestone for Pakistan volleyball at the Asian Games. Pakistan previously won a bronze medal at the 1962 Jakarta Games, but that tournament was played without knockout semi-finals or a third-place playoff, with the final standings determined through the competition format.

As a result, this is the first time Pakistan have reached the semi-finals of the men’s volleyball event at the Asian Games.

Pakistan's emphatic win over India keeps their campaign alive and puts them just one victory away from a place in the gold-medal match.
