Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) met its annual tax collection target for fiscal year 2025-26, collecting PKR 13.601 trillion in gross taxes and achieving 100% of its revised revenue goal, according to FBR officials and official documents.

The tax authority collected PKR 13.601 trillion in gross revenue during the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2026, while paying PKR 597 billion in tax refunds. After refunds, the FBR’s net tax collection stood at PKR 13.003 trillion.

Officials said the FBR exceeded its revised annual net tax collection target of PKR 12.983 trillion, ensuring the government fully achieved its revenue objective for FY26.

Revenue growth strengthens fiscal position

The FY26 performance marked a notable improvement from the previous fiscal year. Official documents showed the FBR collected PKR 12.237 trillion in gross taxes in FY25 and paid PKR 493 billion in refunds, resulting in net tax revenue of PKR 11.745 trillion.

The latest figures reflect strong year-on-year growth in both gross and net tax collections.

Income tax remained the largest contributor

According to official documents, income tax remained the largest source of revenue, contributing PKR 6.645 trillion during July 2025 through June 2026.

Sales tax collections totaled PKR 4.731 trillion, followed by customs duty at PKR 1.385 trillion. The FBR also collected PKR 840 billion through the Federal Excise Duty (FED).

June collections surpass monthly target

The FBR had set a gross tax collection target of PKR 1.753 trillion for June 2026, according to officials.

Official documents showed the authority exceeded the target by collecting PKR 1.812 trillion during the month.

The FBR paid PKR 42 billion in refunds in June, bringing net tax collection for the month to about PKR 1.770 trillion.

June revenue breakdown

The June 2026 tax collection included:

  • Income tax: PKR 1.041 trillion
  • Sales tax: PKR 510 billion
  • Federal Excise Duty (FED): PKR 95 billion
  • Customs duty: PKR 164 billion

The stronger-than-expected performance in June enabled the FBR to close FY26 by meeting its revised annual revenue target, providing a boost to the government's fiscal consolidation efforts.
