Pakistan's U-17 football team made a winning start to their AFC U-17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027 qualifying campaign, defeating Sri Lanka 3-1 in their opening fixture.

The Young Shaheens produced an impressive comeback to claim all three points, with goals from Muhammad Hammad, Muhammad Moosa and Hazrat Abbas sealing the victory for Pakistan.

Sri Lanka took the lead, but Pakistan responded strongly to turn the game around and start their campaign on a positive note.

The victory gives Pakistan three valuable points in Group D, where they are competing alongside Sri Lanka, Iran, Jordan and hosts Laos for a place in the continental tournament.

Head coach Mohammad Habib's side will now turn their attention to their next challenge against Iran on November 11. Pakistan will subsequently face Laos on November 14 before concluding their group-stage campaign against Jordan on November 20.

Under the qualification format, only the group winners will advance to the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2027 finals in Uzbekistan, making every fixture crucial for the Young Shaheens.

Pakistan will hope to build on this opening victory and maintain their momentum as they pursue qualification for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup.
