Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday praised troops for avenging the loss of innocent Pakistani lives during last month’s Operation Bunyān-un-Marsūs -- a military response to cross-border and aerial clashes with India that claimed over 50 lives.

The army chief made these remarks during a visit to forward positions along the Line of Control (LoC), where he celebrated Eid al-Adha with frontline soldiers, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Tensions flared after a deadly April 22 attack in Indian-administered Kashmir killed 26 tourists. India blamed Pakistan-based militants and responded with air and missile strikes across the Line of Control, which Pakistan denied.

By May 7, both sides had exchanged heavy fire and drone attacks, raising fears of war, until a “full and immediate ceasefire” was brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump on May 10.

Today, Field Marshal Munir commended the formation’s exemplary performance in Operation Bunyān-un-Marsūs, paying tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis whose sacrifices continue to strengthen Pakistan’s security and national resolve.

“You have befittingly avenged the loss of innocent Pakistani civilians -- including children, women, and the elderly -- through your bold and effective response,” he told the troops.

Interacting with soldiers, the COAS expressed deep appreciation for their high morale, operational readiness, and unwavering vigilance in responding to Indian ceasefire violations. He reaffirmed complete confidence in the armed forces’ ability to deter and defeat any act of aggression.

Reiterating Pakistan’s principled stance, the army chief said the just and courageous struggle of the Kashmiri people against Indian occupation would never be forgotten. He emphasized the urgent need for resolving the 'Jammu and Kashmir dispute' in accordance with the aspirations of its people and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Earlier, the army chief's visit began with Eid prayers, where special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s peace, stability, and prosperity, as well as for the martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland.

Extending warm Eid greetings to officers and soldiers, Field Marshal Munir praised their professional excellence, steadfast commitment, and sacrifice. He noted that celebrating Eid on the frontlines, away from their families, exemplifies their dedication to safeguarding the nation at all costs.
