Pakistan is set to host the International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s World Cup in December 2025 for which 16 countries have been invited to participate.

India, England, Australia, South Africa, USA and West Indies are among the countries who have been invited.

The event is being organized by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) under the leadership of Chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan.

Speaking to the Nukta, Fawad said that the event will be held at various grounds in Karachi. The matches are scheduled to be played over a two-week period, December 1-13, with the final planned at the National Stadium in Karachi.

“This is not just a cricket tournament; it's a celebration of sporting legacy and international friendship,” Fawad Ijaz remarked.

He added that preparations are in full swing to ensure a high-standard event that reflects Pakistan’s ability to successfully host international tournaments.

According to the PVCA chief, the tournament will feature over 300 players, team officials, and support staff.

“The response from sponsors has been encouraging,” he said. “We are engaging with top brands and media outlets to make this the most successful veterans’ event in our history.”

He further explained that security arrangements, stadium readiness, hospitality services, and international media coverage are being closely coordinated with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and relevant government departments.

Fawad Ijaz noted that the IMC Over-40s World Cup aims to promote veterans’ cricket and encourage healthy sporting activity among former professionals. He said the tournament also fosters sports diplomacy by bringing together former players from rival nations in a spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect.

Pakistan’s Over-40s squad is likely to include several former first-class and international players including Misbah-ul-Haq, Abdul Razzaq, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Hasan Raza, Saleem Malik and Mohammad Sami. The full team lineup will be announced closer to the tournament dates.

The PVCA head also confirmed that a formal launch event and trophy unveiling ceremony will be held later this year.

Concluding his remarks, Fawad Ijaz said, “This World Cup will be about passion, discipline, and building bridges through cricket. Pakistan is ready and confident to welcome the world.”
